Buddha Green Okayti – Darjeeling Green Tea
Buddha Green Okayti – Darjeeling Green Tea
Origin Tea
A second green tea from the same garden as Okayti, shaped differently: open leaves worked entirely by hand, without rolling them into pearls. A cup even lighter than the Green Pearl, vegetal and gentle, with a hint of sweetness underneath.
Composition
Buddha Green green tea, Okayti Tea Estate, Mirik valley, Darjeeling, India. Open leaves worked by hand, no additions of any kind.
Tasting Notes
Light greenish liquor. Vegetal nose with a hint of sweetness. Light, round cup, all vegetal gentleness, with no bitterness or astringency. Delicate body, best enjoyed plain.
Hand Shaping
Unlike the Green Pearl, the leaves are not rolled into pearls: they stay open, shaped entirely by hand using a traditional method unique to the garden. This gentler process gives a lighter, rounder cup.
Okayti Tea Estate
Planted in the 1870s by the British in the Mirik valley, between 1,200 and 1,900 meters of altitude, Okayti owes its name to the quality of its cup: the only okay tea, the only tea judged truly good. Its chinary bushes, direct descendants of the Chinese plants introduced in the 19th century, give the garden its signature finesse, here expressed as green tea.
Okayti Tea Estate
