Deep amber liquor. Mature leaves studded with golden buds yield a complex cup balancing honeyed sweetness and light astringency. Persistent finish, lifted by a spiced edge.
Wah Tea Estate
Founded in 1857 by the British at Palampur, the estate survived the 1905 earthquake before being taken over in 1953 by a family that still runs it, four generations on. At 526 acres, it is the largest plantation in the Kangra Valley, farmed without pesticides on a terroir unique in India.
Tips
Neat, to grasp the grade's complexity. Stands a longer infusion for those who like a bolder cup. 90 to 95°C, 3 to 5 minutes.
