SFTGFOP d'Arunachal – Grand Cru Indien
Origin Tea
SFTGFOP, Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe: the highest standard of orthodox classification. This Donyi Polo reference embodies it, with a remarkable proportion of golden buds and a coppery liquor of fine complexity.
Composition
SFTGFOP black tea, lots OR38 and OR26, Donyi Polo Tea Estate, Arunachal Pradesh, India. Artisanal orthodox production, directly sourced.
Tasting
Bright, coppery liquor. A floral attack, then a clean fruitiness reminiscent of orchard fruit, carried by very fine woody tannins. More structure than the Golden Tippy, while staying delicate. Long, slightly woody finish.
The Donyi Polo Estate
Founded in 1985 at the foot of the eastern Himalayas, on the banks of the Siang, Donyi Polo produces fully artisanal orthodox tea, crafted by the village women, against the industrial model that dominates the region. 420 hectares of tea, 320 hectares of preserved forest.
Tips
Strictly neat. Ideal in a side-by-side tasting with the Golden Tippy to grasp the nuance between the estate's two highest grades. 90°C, 3 to 4 minutes.
