Silver Needle Okayti – Darjeeling White Tea
Silver Needle Okayti – Darjeeling White Tea
Origin Tea
A second white tea from the same garden as Okayti, made exclusively from silver buds picked during the second flush. A floral, sweet cup, carried by a hint of wild red berries, different from the first-flush Wonder White.
Composition
Silver Needle white tea, Okayti Tea Estate, Mirik valley, Darjeeling, India. Silver buds exclusively, second flush, no additions of any kind.
Tasting Notes
Pale, bright liquor. Sweet floral nose with a hint of wild red berries. Honeyed, floral sweetness, silky texture carried by the buds. Delicate body, best enjoyed plain.
A Second Flush, a Different Profile
Unlike the Wonder White, picked during the spring first flush, the Silver Needle comes from the garden's second flush: a cup just as delicate, but rounder, with a fruity note on top of the floral.
Okayti Tea Estate
Planted in the 1870s by the British in the Mirik valley, between 1,200 and 1,900 meters of altitude, Okayti owes its name to the quality of its cup: the only okay tea, the only tea judged truly good. Its chinary bushes, direct descendants of the Chinese plants introduced in the 19th century, give the garden its signature finesse, here expressed as white tea.
